Konichiwa bitches (from Beijing to Saigon)!

What a blast it was!

Usually, it can be quite a task to get into Central London especially on a Sunday evening! Travel time to central is about 1hr minus the waiting having to sit through 20 bloody stations before reaching can be quite a put off. But since I did get the ticket I might as well just drag meself out. At least the weather was basking hot. And it’s always nice to go out without the jacket and stuff.

Doors were scheduled to open at 7pm, so I planned to arrive at about 7.45pm, knowing well there are some random opening acts. I arrived at about 8pm, and some supporting act was still playing. Good stuff actually, but I just wanted to see Robyn. They kept playing and playing and 3 more songs later, they were finally off the stage. Had to wait about 30 minutes before it went dark, and finally appear. Nice cutesy animations at the back. Not bad for a gig I must say.

She started with all the upbeat songs from her current album, which I must say is an absolute gem. It is quite rare to find an album that you love every single song on it. Which is why I agreed to go even on a bloody Sunday evening!

The crowd was pretty alright, but there was this elder guy who probably needs to act his age who stood right behind me. We paid money to see Robyn sing, but not you. He was like singing all the time and the worst part is that he doesn’t even know the full lyrics, but only the last word of the line. It was a running-your-nails-on-the-chalkboard experience! I decided I had enough, so I turned back, gave him a cock stare and walk away.

That aside, the experience was pretty amazing! She truly knows how to work the crowd and setlist was better than I had expected. She even threw in some old tracks like Do you know what it takes, as well as Show Me Love. How unfortch she didn’t do Do You Really Want Me.

But having to hear tracks live from album was sheer pleasure. I would so recommend her self-titled album. Get Robyn!
